State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), Petar Koprivica, claims that the goal of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is not a legal voter list, but "deception with the intention of scaring" the citizens of Nikšić so that they will not exercise their right to vote.
"Today, right before the end of working hours, DPS MP Andrija Nikolić submitted to the MUP branch in Nikšić a list of persons he claims were illegally registered on the voter list. We emphasize that this type of activity by DPS is again being carried out after the voter list has been closed, so that it cannot be intervened in, in case of any need, and at the end of working hours, with the clear aim of preventing the MUP from verifying their allegations, because it will obviously happen that these are persons whom DPS ministers and officials registered on the voter list, as happened in Podgorica. Therefore, the goal here is not a legal voter list, but deception with the intention of scaring the citizens of Nikšić, so that they will not exercise their right to vote," Koprivica announced.

He said that anyone registered on the electoral roll of Montenegro can exercise their right to vote without any consequences.
"We recall that we had the opportunity to see a similar performance in the run-up to the elections in Podgorica, when at the first press conference a list of 3.300 people was announced, then at the press conference in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 2.300, and then it was determined that a list of 1.910 people was submitted, of which 1.905 were registered on the voter list during the DPS government, and none during the current government. After that, they announced criminal charges, which they never filed, thereby deceiving the citizens of Podgorica, because they knew in advance that every registration of the aforementioned persons was legal," the statement reads.
He said that MUP officers will certainly conduct a detailed check as soon as possible and inform the public of the outcome.
