"We will fight with all our hearts to ensure that local community councils are asked about everything that happens in their communities, and that they are not just a 'dead letter on paper', as has been the case so far. The local government will no longer be able to make any decision related to any local community without the knowledge and consent of its council," said Mijajlo Mijo Škuletić, candidate for councilor of the "Probudimo Nikšić - Dragoljub - Dragan Radulović" list.
In a statement sent to the media, he stated that there are many bad examples, and he is a witness to many of them because he is also the president of one of the local communities in Nikšić.
"Let's just remember the case of burying euthanized cows - without the knowledge and consent of anyone from my local community, a real ecological disaster was created. 200-300 sick cows were dumped, and after dissatisfied locals found out and went out in protest, arrests, detentions and other actions inappropriate for civilization and freedom followed," said Škuletić.
The candidate from the "Probudimo Nikšić" list pointed out that there are many bad examples in the management of the Municipality of Nikšić, and that he is particularly disappointed by the "silence of the administration" to a large number of requests submitted in the previous period.
"The Bogetići local community, that is, my little one, sent 96 written requests to the local administration of Nikšić. Each one was duly recorded in the register. The tragedy is that our council received a response to only about a dozen of them. The rest went unnoticed or ended up in the trash. Such an attitude is one of humiliation and disrespect for citizens. In addition to these examples, we have numerous examples of the local administration's disinterest and arrogance towards local communities," he stated.
He added that the "Probudimo Nikšić" list, if it participates in government, will not make decisions without the consent of the local community councils.
"Many are the consequences of bad decisions that we have experienced firsthand. A great example of this is the tavern on Bogetici, which operated continuously for more than 150 years – and was closed. After nine written requests, all documented and entered in the register of the local community council, as well as twenty personal visits to the competent Ministry – which is also the owner of the aforementioned tavern, that is, the facility, we were unable to get an answer on whether there was a possibility of announcing a tender and putting the facility back into operation. Today, that facility has been devastated, destroyed, looted – everything that could be taken away has been taken away. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the school yard, and now serves as a place for abandoned dogs, which attack students and travelers on the way to the sanctuary – the Ostrog Monastery. It is worth noting that several workers were permanently employed in that tavern, and that more than fifteen families were left without a source of income. If that facility had remained in operation, the local school today would not only have fourteen elementary school students, but significantly more – because we are allegedly fighting to open jobs places," he said.
He said he wouldn't be able to do that anymore.
"We will be a government that works in the interests of all citizens of Nikšić. Whatever our fellow citizens decide on April 13th, our list will be a serious, determined and angry opponent of every act of disrespect for citizens," concluded Škuletić.
