The crisis in the functioning of the Bar Municipal Assembly was not caused by the opposition, but by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), said the councilors of Democratic Montenegro in response to today's statement by the president of the local parliament, Branislav Nenezić.
As they wrote, they did not plan to make a statement regarding the repeated lack of quorum at the Bar Municipal Assembly session, but they feel obligated to react after President Nenezić made a statement and indirectly called out the opposition.
"First of all, we would like to point out that it is not correct for Mr. Nenezić to hold any grudges against the opposition, bearing in mind that the coalition agreement with him was not signed by the Bar opposition, but by his political ally - the Bar DPS. Secondly, we remind the public that the crisis in the functioning of the local parliament was also not caused by the opposition, but by the DPS - Mr. Nenezić's largest coalition partner, whose councilors did not appear at the session in March. This seems to have made it very clear to him 'who is mowing the lawn and who is carrying the water' in the Bar government," the Democrats councilors wrote in a statement.
They told Nenezić that at the very beginning of this convocation of the Municipal Assembly, they made it clear that they would not be anyone's backup player, nor a tool for maintaining the semblance of stability within the ruling majority.
"Therefore, the next time your coalition partner, DPS, decides to discipline you, we would ask you to be elementary correct, but also brave enough to stand up to them or at least tell them publicly what you really think about them, which you did not tell them in the Parliament, in public, or at the afternoon tea parties where you reconcile and share functions every Sunday," they concluded.
