We are not against investments and investors, we are just against sloppiness, we are against suspending the Constitution and laws of Montenegro in order to benefit someone, said the president of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović.
The URA Party announced that Abazović said this last night in the amphitheater next to the "Park Hall", where the final rally of the "URA - Drugačije - Dr. Dritan Abazović!" list was held ahead of the local elections in Herceg Novi, which will be held on Sunday.
Abazović said at the rally that there is no party that has done more historic things in a shorter period of time for Montenegro.
"We are different, but we want and believe that Montenegro can do even better, differently, concretely and fairly. We never make empty promises, unlike our political competition, which promised that as soon as they form the 44th Government, they will start with the bypass around Herceg Novi, and now they have it in their programs for 2025. They said they would do a miracle with the Igalo Institute, and if it weren't for Mr. Nikočević, our candidate for councilor, the Institute would have started long ago, back in 2017, if it hadn't been defended by these people who are here tonight, among others. And they came now before the elections to supposedly create some project that is still shrouded in mystery," Abazović pointed out.
He added that URA is different, "because it tells the truth and is in every place together with the citizens to defend their interests and the interests of the state, as is currently the case with Velika Plaža."
"When they realized that we had brought the defense to the point where we could say that we might have really defended it - they threw Luštica in again. Now they want to betray it for 90 years, then return it in 2115, so whoever survives will tell whether it has returned. The land of the citizens of Montenegro that our ancestors acquired and defended here, at this westernmost gate. Let every inch serve, first and foremost, the citizens of Montenegro. We are not against investments and investors. We are only against nonsense, we are against suspending the Constitution and laws of Montenegro in order to benefit someone," said Abazović.
He said that the 43rd Government, led by the Civic Movement URA, returned the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry line to state ownership and that many people were outraged by that at the time.
"Now, just that one move brings Montenegro ten million euros every year, plus our state now owns eight ships and one of them is symbolically called the Hand of Justice. And the 'hand of justice' must come to Herceg Novi and every city in Montenegro in order for justice to come to life in our state. We are rooting for Herceg Novi to open its soul, just as it will open its shutters - and to show that the interests of this community come first. Let's bring culture back to the city. Let's bring sports back. Let's bring the Adriatic back to those winning ways. Let's make that song from the pool resonate throughout Montenegro. Let our water polo players, who are European champions, play in their city and in their country. Therefore, dear citizens of Novi, it's time for action, go to the polls, because not everyone is the same, there are those who are different. On Sunday, with dignity, with a smile: number two," said Abazović.
The statement states that the leader of the "URA - Different - Dr. Dritan Abazović!" list, Nikola Radman, "thanked his colleagues and his team, for showing in this campaign that they are different from the political competition in everything, in their way of thinking, in their vision of development and in their attitude towards the interests of citizens."
"Our responsibility is our word, and when we promise something, we fulfill it. We said we would return the ferry to the state and we returned it. Therefore, respected citizens of Herceg Novi, if you believe that the dominant parties that have led you so far are better, there are no problems, but if you believe that they are not and that someone different is needed, you have the URA list - Different for Herceg Novi," said Radman.
URE's political director and MP Ana Novaković Đurović said that she is certain that there are serious reasons why a Nobel laureate decided to spend the best and most beautiful years of his life in this city, and that it is their obligation to give young people enough reasons to stay in their city and to welcome their dignified old age there.
Candidate for councilor Milica Kovačević Coppola said that Herceg Novi is a city that everyone loves, those who were born here and those who sailed here, dropped anchor and found a safe harbor.
"When that is the case, then we all have the right, but also the obligation, to make it an even better and more beautiful place to live. We don't need to be outsmarted, measured, labeled, we just need to compete in good and good will come, and that's why let's be different, think differently, choose differently, for ourselves, for our families, our elderly parents, friends, neighbors, our fellow citizens, for our streets, for this city," said Kovačević Coppola.
Candidate for councilor Zoran Lučić said that they were different when they had enough political courage to tackle corruption and crime.
"We were different when we returned what had been alienated to the state, such as the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry line, and today we see the effects, how many millions of revenues we have in the budget based on that, and we are different today, from this position, when we stand on the political scene as a beacon of truth, as someone who has the courage to say what is not good in this current government," said Lučić.
Djordje Crnogorcevic said that unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer young people in Herceg Novi, and that the city is in a stage of deep demographic aging.
"We from the Herceg Novi URE have noticed and recognized this problem as key, unlike other lists. We must provide conditions for our young fellow citizens to live and work, to work and earn a decent living. We have proposed the 'Housing for All' program, through which those who do not have a roof over their heads, especially young married couples, will be able to solve their housing issue under favorable conditions," said Crnogorčević.
Candidate for councilor Ilija Peulić said that Winston Churchill said that "He who never changes anything in life, never does anything."
"Well, I have changed and I am very happy about that. It is time for all of us from Novalja to show on Sunday that we are ready for fundamental changes for the better," said Peulić.
