Former mayor of Podgorica and vice president of the Europe Now Movement (PES) Olivera Injac announced that Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović did not initiate her removal from the position of mayor of Podgorica.
Injac said that she and Milatović, during her mandate, achieved "quality institutional cooperation".
"The change of government in Podgorica in July 2024 occurred due to the shortening of the mandate of the Capital City Assembly, which was voted for by 31 opposition councilors, and not by a vote to remove the mayor. Through cooperation with President Milatović, I had the opportunity to see for myself his support for female leadership," said Injac.
She said that she is certain that in the coming years, Montenegrin society and politics will have a greater number of women in decision-making positions and "that we will all contribute together to achieving that goal."
PES MP Miloš Pižurica said earlier today that Milatović initiated Injac's dismissal.
