The Civic Movement for Herceg Novi "Idemooo!" wants better solutions for its young people and all the unemployed, and to do everything to reduce the outflow of Herceg Novi residents, young and middle-aged, said Vasilije Doklestić, a candidate for councilor on that list.
"He said that Herceg Novi is one of the cities with the largest outflow of young people, and one of those with negative annual growth. In new hotels on the Riviera, which need two thousand employees, foreigners will be employed, who will agree to work for wages unworthy of a human being, because there is no real, strong social policy and generally no political course that protects employees in the private sector, citizens of Montenegro," he said in a statement sent to the media.
He says that there is now a major unemployment problem in Novi - many young and middle-aged people are unemployed and work in inadequate, poorly paid jobs.
He also cites the departure of young, educated people from Herceg Novi for existential reasons, as well as the lack of connection between the local administration and the economic sector (tourism, manufacturing, services, etc.), and the absence of any form of cooperation except for party and financial support.
"There is no support, i.e. there is no employment strategy in the area of our municipality (the strategy would be based on the economic and financial basis, the needs of the city and the application of innovative ideas for creating new jobs).
"Party employment is a systemic problem, which mainly helps bad students or those without a profession and knowledge, and eliminates all capable people who have personal dignity and knowledge. Party employment means a significantly increased budget for salaries, which is used to finance a river of party followers, mostly without adequate work engagement," Doklestić points out.
Additional problems he cites include the lack of linkage between the economy, the needs of citizens and local government in order to coordinate employment and learn about the dynamics of job needs, additional training and the creation of new ones, as well as the narrowness of local government and the lack of ideas for creating new, self-financing jobs, beyond employment in local government or public enterprises.
The solutions offered by his list, as Doklestić points out, are primarily in the development of an employment plan with an emphasis on innovations and specificities of the municipality of Herceg Novi (especially targeting young people), and in accordance with the possibilities of the environment and its specificities, based on a detailed demographic and social analysis of the situation.
As one of the solutions, Doklestić mentions an eco-program with the construction of eco-houses in the hinterland of Herceg Novi, or smaller accommodation facilities in harmony with nature and with a focus on sustainability and environmental awareness, with gardens, greenhouses, domestic animals, etc. where guests could consume everything from local production, with additional adventure activities that a location offers with local guides (management, guides are people who get a job stimulated by municipal money, and on their or the municipal property).
Then, creating orchards in the hinterland of the city and building shops where everyone can be offered local products (honey liqueurs, sweets, jams, cheeses, olives, etc.). We have the resources, and we import almost everything, he says.
"Enabling digital workspaces. Opening modern clubs, workspaces with fast internet suitable for all those who work online. A package that includes accommodation and various tourist activities for clients who work remotely and are there temporarily or in transit.
Organizing workshops and gastronomic festivals for the local population: crafts, music, art, culture, cooking and everything that promotes local values. Nautical activities. Diving and water sports schools (this is completely neglected in our municipality). Licensed school for tourist guides. Modern physiotherapy center for the prevention and treatment of neuro-muscular problems with affordable prices that would contain everything that is not available in Montenegro, following modern standards.
"Opening a specialist medicine department within the Meljine Hospital, in accordance with the natural conditions of the environment (treatment of goiter, etc.). Opening small industrial plants for processing agricultural products and other craft plants, which would be financed by the municipality from its own funds," are some of the solutions he mentioned.
Doklestić finally called on fellow citizens to vote on April 13 for expertise, responsibility and Herceg Novi "as we deserve", for a new beginning, for list number 8 and the civic movement for Herceg Novi "Let's go!".
