Spajić: I feel sorry for Milatović, he is the only one who knows how to negotiate with DPS

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said today that in recent days many accusations have been heard from President Jakov Milatović, and that he feels sorry for him.

Spajić said this at a press conference after the Government session.

He was answering the question of what he thought about the criticisms made by Milatović regarding the Agreement between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but also whether this broke the truce created after the Podgorica elections.

"We have heard many accusations from the president these days, I feel sorry for the president. The only one who knows how to negotiate with the DPS (Democratic Party of Socialists) is him, fortunately he did not succeed in Podgorica in completing what he initially intended. He advocated the return of Judge Đuranović, the same solution that the DPS also advocated. He did not succeed in that, we have moved to a European model where the Venice Commission will have the final say, such a solution was supported in parliament by all major parties. The European Commission also supported it, several of them, Kaja Kalas pointed out that this is a big deal for Montenegro - that creating internal cohesion is very important. I think this is an attempt by some political, I don't know what to call it," said Spajić, adding that the European Parliament also unanimously adopted conclusions on the matter.

Regarding the Agreement, he said that the President of the European Commission announced negotiations and an agreement with the UAE last night, and that this was an answer to all those who had dilemmas about the EU's opinion on cooperation and investments from that country.
