In the 30 years of rule of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Nikšić has only seen the closure of factories, emigration and degradation, said the president of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović.
"In 2021, the DF (Democratic Front) came to power in Nikšić, and I ask them to tell us one thing they did with the 44th Government? Everything they and the Democrats boast about is a credit to the 43rd Government and the initiative of the Nikšić URE, in a year and a half of work, the 44th Government has not had a single project," Abazović pointed out.
The GP URA announced that he said this at the final rally of the "URA - Drugačije - Dušan Golović!" list held last night ahead of the local elections in Nikšić, which will be held on Sunday, April 13th.
The statement states that the message from that gathering was that everything must be different from April 13th and that they owe it to the city under Trebjes, future generations and those who created and defended Nikšić with their blood.
Abazović pointed out that their candidate for mayor of Nikšić, Dušan Golović, exudes culture, upbringing, optimism, nobility, attitude towards family, work and friends, and that Nikšić deserves to have Buba Golović's grandson return to its grandeur and work from April 13 for the good of all citizens of Nikšić.
"I am proud of all our people and all our battles. Perhaps the only moment in my political career when I saw tears in my eyes was when I came to meet with the workers of the Steel Plant who were protesting on the roof that evening after midnight. That's when I realized that you sent politicians from Nikšić to Podgorica in vain, that nothing, absolutely nothing was returned to you for good, and that we must take matters into our own hands in order to do things differently for both Nikšić and Montenegro. I am proud that we returned a million square meters in the city center to the state of Montenegro and enabled 229 Nikšić families to live off that Steel Plant. I am proud that we brought the 'Beluga' vodka factory, which is the second exporter in Montenegro after Elektroprivreda, I am proud that we gave so much money for the Fire Department and for the stands of the Sutjeska football club stadium, where our national team now plays its matches with pride," Abazović emphasized.
He added that URA has done much more in a short period of time than anyone else has done in many years and will ever do.
Abazović said that their hand is extended to all who want to work honestly and for the good of Nikšić.
"Nikšić must return to its roots, and its roots are not primitivism, nationalism and current dilettantism. Nikšić is characterized by intellectual awareness, artists, urban society, and people who are the driving force of the Montenegrin economy. Nikšić's URA has an obligation to return such a spirit to the city under Trebjes. And so, on April 13, let Goran Šućur and Nikšić sound the end of populism, nationalism and crime and those who work against Nikšić and Montenegro, and let it sound the beginning of a different and progressive Nikšić," said Abazović.
The leader of the "URA - Drugačije" list, Dušan Golović, pointed out that "these elections are an opportunity for Nikšić to return to itself, to see people on its streets, children in schools, young people in Nikšić's parks, to do everything, just so that young people don't think that everything is in vain and give up, and that, as he said, is not the character of Nikšić, nor of the Civic Movement URA".
"Throughout history, the bearers of change have always been exclusively those who were different, braver than others and true to their vision. We are here to give our city a different future, compared to its recent past, but also its present. To awaken the spirit of old Nikšić, the lord of the city, the flagship of freedom and anti-fascism - a city of heroines and heroes who laugh in the face of death. We are obliged to do this precisely by our Joka Baletić and her comrade Ljubo Čupić, who gave their lives in pledge of a different and better Nikšić," said Golović.
Candidate for councilor Goran Šućur said that these days he often hears from political competitors, who, as he added, are trying to stop their growth trend, that a vote for URU is a vote for DPS, that a vote for URU is a vote for DF.
"Well, I'm telling them: a vote for URU was neither a vote for DPS nor will it be a vote for DF, a vote for URU is a vote for Montenegro, a vote for Nikšić, a vote for the people of Nikšić. A vote for URU is a vote for unity, stability and progress of Nikšić and Montenegro," said Šućur.
Candidate for councilor Anđela Mijanović said that she knows that there are many people in Nikšić who are disappointed and who no longer believe that politics can bring change.
"I completely understand you, but we must never give up on our fight, because it can always be better and different. The people on this list know what it's like to be a tenant, what it's like to wait for a job, people who didn't enter politics for office, but for the idea that we live in a better city and state. People who have never stood aside, but have been fighting for essential changes for years. It's time for those who know, can and will. Enough of choosing the lesser evil," said Mijanović
Candidate for councilor Darko Nikolić said that it is a privilege to be part of the Civic Movement URA, which, as he said, is made up of people with wide smiles, big hearts, and clean hands.
"And precisely because we are like that, because they cannot find or plant any dirt or affair on us, that is why we are a nuisance and that is why we are a thorn in the side. And we will continue to be a thorn in the side of all who work contrary to civilizational values, all who aim to divide us, all who consider personal interest and petty political privileges more important than the interests of Nikšić and Montenegro," Nikolić said.
University of Montenegro professor and candidate for councilor Rajka Glušica said that the Nikšić-based URA decided to run independently, bravely and without calculations and coalitions in these elections.
"Our electoral list received the number 5 on the ballot. I think it is not at all a coincidence because this number best reflects URU. The Pythagoreans believe that 5 is the number of the center, harmony and balance. It is a symbol of man, order and perfection. In China, 5 is the number of the center and the number of the heart. URA is the civic party of the center and the most courageous and empathetic of all. In Indian symbolism, 5 is the number of the god Shiva - the transformer. URA also has the same mission to change and transform Montenegrin politics and society," said Glušica.
