The "We Will Not Give Up on Serbia" rally, organized in Belgrade by the Movement for the People and the State of local President Aleksandar Vučić, will be attended by the leader of Free Montenegro Vladislav Dajković, while the leader of the Socialist People's Party (SNP) Vladimir Joković will not attend, because he says no one invited him.
"Vijesti" did not receive any answers from officials of the former Democratic Front (DF), close to Vučić, as to whether they would be in the Serbian capital today.
Dajković confirmed to "Vijesti" that he would attend the rally, saying that Vučić has his support.
"If it weren't for Vučić, Milo (Đukanović) would still be persecuting the Serbian people in Montenegro. That needs to be said loudly, whether anyone likes it or not. When I see who conspired against him: from the committees in Montenegro, to the passionate Albanians from Pristina, to those hostile Croats and Bosniaks, it is clear that the attacks on the President of Serbia are actually attacks on the entire Serbian people," he said.
He stated that the weaker the Serbian government, the happier the enemies of the Serbs are.
"However, the attempt at a colored revolution is apparently failing day by day, so even those centers of power will no longer have anything to look forward to. Of course, the President of Serbia has my support, it would be strange if it were otherwise," said Dajković.
Vladimir Joković told "Vijesti" that no one invited him to Vučić's rally, and that for that reason he will not travel to Belgrade.
Answers to the question of whether they would attend the rally did not come from the leaders of New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Andrija Mandić and Democratic People's Party (DNP) Milan Knežević, who were the leaders of the DF, but also from the first man of Nikšić and NSD MP Marko Kovačević, Minister of Sports and SNP official Dragoslav Šćekić, and the leader of Prava Crne Gore Marko Milačić.
Ahead of the gathering, an invitation from the non-governmental organization (NGO) Serbian Cultural Center (SKC) "Patriarch Varnava" from Pljevlja appeared on social media, inviting citizens of that municipality to attend the event.
The mayor of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, said yesterday, while appearing on the show "Colors of the Morning" on Television "Vijesti", that the municipality has nothing to do with it, but that he does not see anything controversial about the call.
"The Municipality of Pljevlja is not involved in the organization of this gathering. The entire organization is led by the 'Serbian Cultural Center'... We are a democratic state, and 66 percent of the residents of our municipality have declared themselves Serbs. They have every right to travel to Serbia and participate in the social life of their home country. I also feel like a Serb, and I see nothing controversial in that invitation," Vranes said, adding that the Municipality is not financing the trip.
The president of the Pljevlja NGO Božidar Jelovac told "Vijesti" the day before yesterday that there is great interest among the citizens of that municipality in going to Belgrade, and that among those who have registered, in addition to the residents of Pljevlja, there are also many people from other Montenegrin municipalities."
"We see the rally in Belgrade on April 12th as a patriotic rally, and we support all patriotic movements in Serbia, Montenegro, and Republika Srpska," he said when asked why the SKC "Patriarch Varnava" is organizing free transportation to the rally in Belgrade.
Jelovac is an NSD councilor in the Pljevlja parliament.
The leaders of the former DF are considered close to the Serbian president, and have previously attended many events organized by him.
Knežević spoke at the celebration of Serbian Statehood Day in February, but also at the "Serbia of Hope" rally organized in May 2023.
Also, the leader of the DNP, as well as Kovačević and Dajković, are signatories of a recent petition "supporting Vučić's right to life", which warned of the "growing dehumanization and satanization" of his character and actions, as well as the function he performs.
The petition was launched in early January by the Institute for Political Networking, which is little known to the public in Serbia, and among the 35 signatories are ministers in the Serbian government, ambassadors, politicians and public figures who appear almost daily in regime media and support the Serbian Progressive Party and Vučić, while attacking the opposition.
The "We Will Not Give Up Serbia" rally began yesterday and will last until Sunday, with the central part expected today. It will feature the presentation of the non-partisan "Movement for the People and the State", which was registered at the beginning of this month.
Among the founders of this movement are regular members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, including the future Prime Minister-designate of Serbia, Đuro Macut.
Vučić has been announcing the establishment of a non-partisan movement for several years, ever since he resigned from the position of president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) at the "Serbia of Hope" rally.
