The director of the NGO Center for the Affirmation of the Roma-Egyptian Population (CAREP), Nardi Ahmetović, said that he experienced an unpleasant experience while voting in the local elections in Nikšić.
He wrote on his Facebook account that he had an unpleasant experience at polling station 24, Kličevo.
He sent a letter to the Nikšić Municipal Election Commission, asking them to comment on the inconvenience he said he experienced, as well as to consider whether and what measures will be taken to ensure that members of the polling stations act seriously, professionally and without personal comments towards any citizen.
"My intention is not to publicly name-call, but to protect the dignity of all citizens," Ahmetović stated in a letter to the Nikšić Municipal Election Commission.
He said that when signing for the vote, after he signed, a member of the election commission commented, "Wow, a modern signature." Ahmetović says he responded with "Please, no comments."
"The commission president reacted to this and said that there was no comment, although he himself, to my previous question: 'Can you please check if I am on the voter list?', said: 'Yes, and yours are here too'. I am not sure who he meant - members of my family or community - but such remarks are neither professional nor appropriate," Ahmetović wrote on Facebook.
He also said that after posting his status on that social network, several people from his community contacted him and "shared similar experiences - allegedly from the same person."
"Unfortunately, I don't know her name, but I'll find out on Monday," Ahmetović said.
