The Civic Movement for Herceg Novi "Idemooo!", according to the results announced by Democratic Montenegro, will have one councilor in the next term of the Herceg Novi Municipal Assembly.
The leader of the list, Olivera Doklestić, thanked the people of Herceg Novi who turned out to vote and recognized the sincerity and fight of her list to preserve the values of Herceg Novi, although the turnout was devastating, especially for the ruling coalition.
"With all the celebration and the 12 mandates won, they need to put their finger on their forehead and see how much they have lost of their voters, compared to the previous elections, because the reduced number of people who voted actually benefited them and their colleagues from the New List, to remain somehow compact in their voting body and in the number of mandates, and in fact those who could have voted for other parties stayed home," said Doklestić, according to the RTHN portal.
For Doklestić, low voter turnout represents a defeat for democracy and freedom of thought, and doubt about everything that happens during the electoral process.
"There was a lot of pressure, a lot of unfair actions. Of course, the campaigns of the leading parties were paid for with large sums of money. The amount of money we, as a small civic movement, allocated for the campaign is truly ridiculous and incomparable to them. From that aspect, our result is huge. It is incredible that someone who was formed two months ago managed to enter the local parliament," said Doklestić.
