Doklestić: We are not satisfied with the election results

Despite winning one mandate, the Civic Movement for Herceg Novi "Idemooo" is not satisfied with the results achieved in the local elections in Herceg Novi, said the leader of the list, Olivera Doklestić.

Doklestić said at a press conference that they won about 600 votes, or 4,6 percent, which placed them ahead of the European Union, GP URA, Bokek Forum and SNP, but they were about 30 votes short of another mandate.

However, as she said, the election results, with the dominance of the Democrats with 12 and the New List with 10 seats, speak to the problem of low turnout of barely 51 percent.

"The great chaos in the voter lists due to changes in polling places for a large percentage of voters, throughout the municipality, further angered many, so much so that they boycotted the elections for that reason. It is unlikely that all this chaos was unintentional, and was created in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro," said Doklestić, according to the RTHN portal.

Analyzing the campaigns of other parties and looking into voter reports, as well as bearing in mind certain individual advertisements during the election silence, GP "Idemooo" states that the former member was very keen to bring down the Movement's rating.

Many believe, as Doklestić points out, that entering parliament is a great success, but one mandate does not leave many opportunities.

"With two mandates, GP 'Idemooo' would be a significant factor on the political scene of Herceg Novi and could even be the tipping point in the negotiations. One mandate marginalizes the role of the 'Idemooo' movement. Who would actually benefit from the 'Idemooo' movement, with two councilor mandates? A movement that has already proven itself with its open, harsh positions. The answer is self-evident," said Doklestić.

The ruling party in Herceg Novi, the Democrats, achieved a weaker result than in the previous elections. They won 3.700 votes out of 25.00 voters, according to Doklestić.

"They received 4.067 of the 'translated' votes, which is a much weaker result compared to the previous elections, and compared to the overly expensive campaign, which even Donald Trump would not be ashamed of. With them, the New List won 10 seats, with a total of 3.320 votes, and could also feel the threat of 'Idemooo', but also, together with 'Idemooo', secure political parity with the Democrats, and possibly even a majority," she said.

A member of the innermost committee of the "Idemooo" movement, as Doklestić said, excluded himself from the movement via SMS without explanation, but also agreed to remain on the list. Through social media, she added, he influenced a certain number of voters in the Old Town, where the movement's best ratings were expected, not to vote.
