The Citizens' Alliance Civis does not stand behind the vote of its representative in the Parliament, MP Maja Vučelić, for the law ratifying the agreement in the field of tourism and real estate development with the United Arab Emirates.
This is stated in a statement from Civis submitted to "Vijesti".
They believe that the MP should have abstained, because the law did not receive majority support at the Civis Assembly.
"During the multi-day debate and the scheduled and implemented voting lasting 16 hours (from 19 pm on April 16 to 11 am on April 17 - until the start of the session of the Parliament of Montenegro and the officially announced voting results an hour later), on the largest and broadest platform of the Civis Assembly, it was decided: for the first Economic Cooperation Agreement with the UAE, 100% of participants voted 'for'; for the second Agreement on the Development of Tourism and Real Estate, 50% of participants voted 'for', and 50% of participants voted 'against'. Therefore, since neither the 'for' nor the 'against' position won the required majority in the vote, we are of the opinion that accordingly the only expected, reflective and correct vote of Civis in the case of the second Agreement in the parliament was - abstention," the statement reads.
They said that, consequently, the vote of the Civis representative does not realistically reflect the democratically implemented decision-making procedure in that party.
"Therefore, Civis cannot stand behind her vote and the stated 'for' position, because it also represents her personal position on the issue of the second Agreement, which deals with the development of tourism and real estate," they said.
