The Europe Now Movement (PES) has spoken out about what they said was an organized negative campaign on social media, saying that they have been enduring "a brutal and orchestrated negative campaign of the kind rarely seen" for a long time.
They called on the competent institutions to react and "protect the dignity of the political struggle."
"We are particularly surprised that some of the attacks come from those who themselves have been targets of similar dirty clashes and know what it looks like when a lynching does not stop even in front of family. Words like 'traitor', 'fraudster', 'corrupt' have become a daily arsenal of insults. However, they do not affect us - because we know why and for whom we work. We work exclusively for the citizens of Montenegro, for their safer, fairer and better future. Our results will be our strongest defense," PES announced.
They say that criticism is legitimate and welcome when it is constructive.
"This, however, was not a criticism. This is an attempt at political execution. The target is not only the members of the Movement, but also their families — wives, sisters, children. Even more worrying is the silence of those who once sought solidarity, and now silently observe the campaign of hatred. However, we will not stop. Time is the best judge, and the truth inexorably emerges. We are convinced that many, when emotions subside, will feel at least a hint of shame for what they are ready to say today," they add.
They said they insist on "protecting the dignity of political struggle."
"If there is anything illegal in our work - let the competent institutions investigate it. We do not run away from responsibility, but only insist on protecting the dignity of political struggle. For a Montenegro where hatred is not ruled, but vision. We see the man. They see an obstacle to their ambitions. Let them cure hatred themselves," says PES.
