"A friendly cafe for the winners of the winning lists from the last local elections in Nikšić," wrote Nikšić Municipality Mayor Marko Kovačević on his Facebook account, along with a photo of himself and the winners of the Democrats and Plenum 083 list, Nemanja Vuković, and the Europe Now Movement (PES) leader Zoran Mrkić.
As the aforementioned parties and coalitions unofficially told "Vijesti", official negotiations between the three parties will begin soon.
Kovačević led the coalition "For the Future of Nikšić" in the local elections, which were held in the town near Trebjes on April 13th.
This coalition, led by the former DF, won 14.381 votes, or 15 seats, PES received 5.188 votes, or five seats), and the Democrats 3.038 votes – three seats. Since the Nikšić parliament has 41 council seats, at least 21 “hands” are needed to form a government. If ZBNK, PES and Democrats, partners in the state government, reach an agreement, they would have a majority of 23 councilors.
According to the results of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC), the Democratic Party of Socialists, led by the President of the Municipal Board Boris Muratović, won 14.580 votes or 16 mandates, while the European Union list, led by Ivan Radojičić, received 2.103 votes, i.e. two mandates.
Five actors did not achieve parliamentary status – the Civic Movement URA, the Party of European Progress, and three lists, “Let's Awaken Nikšić - Dragoljub Dragan Radulović”, “Work for My City - Dr. Borislav Mišo Đurišić” and the list “For a Libertarian Nikšić of Equal Opportunities - Jelena Marković”.
According to the results of the MEC in Nikšić, out of 57.589 registered voters, 42.012 voted, or 72,95 percent, which is almost ten percent lower turnout compared to four years ago (then it was around 82 percent).
Four years ago, the government in Nikšić was formed by coalitions led by the DF and the Democrats and the Civic Movement URA with 22 councilors.
