The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) will request a control hearing of Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković and Acting Director of the Police Administration Lazar Šćepanović and initiate the dismissal of Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić, said the party's president, Danijel Živković.
"We will prosecute these two activities today. The responsibility of the Speaker of the Parliament is further increased by the fact that he hired Danilo Mandić, his nephew, who is listed as a person of interest (BIL)," Živković said at a press conference in the Parliament.
He stated that Mandić is directly responsible for destroying the credibility of state institutions.
"The whole case is cast in even greater doubt by the collaboration of state authorities - the Police Directorate (PD) and the prosecutor's office, because the prosecutor was not present at the scene. Today we have a situation where there is a serious collaboration of state authorities to cover up the entire case. This is a serious scandal that must be brought to light," he added.
He said that three legitimate questions were being asked - how did the Police Directorate allow BIL to be in the inner circle of a protected person (the head of the Assembly, Andrija Mandić), who enabled the use of the assembly vehicle, and how is it possible that the prosecutor was not on site.
On Mandić's dismissal: It matters less to us how someone will express themselves
When asked by "Vijesti" whose support they expect for Mandić's dismissal, Živković replied that they expected Andrija Mandić to resign himself.
"A logical question arises - what needs to happen in Montenegro for someone to resign. What is the 'situational event' that must occur for someone to show moral, political or objective responsibility," said Živković.
"We had an event that happened in Cetinje, you saw the relationship between the Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović and the Acting Director of the Police Administration Lazar Šćepanović, today you have a scandal that happened a few days ago...", he added.
Speaking about Mandić's dismissal, Živković said that it was less important to them how someone would express themselves.
"It's less important to us because we see what this parliamentary majority is like, they operate according to the principle of the distribution of functions and the distribution of power. They only count on staying in power by opening one or another ministry. Our essence is to see who is in the parliamentary majority for the removal of Mandić, because of everything that is happening in Montenegrin society," Živković assessed.
He pointed out that the initiative will be submitted like any previous one, so that "those who are conscientious about voting in relation to the argumentation will vote, those who don't, good luck to them."
Asked by a "Vijesti" reporter whether they expect support from representatives of minority parties, Živković stated that they have not yet spoken with colleagues from those parties.
"This initiative will be offered to everyone, and they will have the opportunity to express their views on it in the Parliament. As for the minority parties, I think they need to seriously consider who they give legitimacy to for exercising power in Montenegro, we have pointed this out in the previous period, especially after last night's parliamentary session," said Živković.
He said that representatives of citizens of Albanian nationality in the Assembly expressed dissatisfaction with the agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the plenum, and that the question arises - why are they still part of the government?
On not voting on agreements with the UAE: We left the parliamentary majority to show who is "in favor"
When asked by a journalist from Television Vijesti why they were not at the vote in the Parliament last night, regarding the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement with the UAE in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development, Živković said that the DPS's position is clear - they are against such agreements and the way this Government is thinking of bringing investors to Montenegro - a way that is not subject to the principle of transparency, because it is not in line with domestic laws. They left, he says, the parliamentary majority to show who is in favor of such an agreement.
When a journalist stated that the president and MP of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, said that Milo Đukanović was behind the DPS's non-voting, Živković replied that he would be surprised if Knežević had not said that.
"Andrija Mandić supported these agreements. The basic question is - why did he do it? What is the subject of the agreement between Andrija Mandić and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, who are all the planned contractors who should enter the business. That is what Andrija Mandić should be asked - what kind of corruption projects are these, shrouded in secrecy...", said Živković.
