Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj assessed that, thanks to the Regional Center for Cyber Capacities of the Western Balkans, Montenegro is becoming a place for exchanging experiences and acquiring new knowledge in this area.

Dukaj met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska in Podgorica today.

Šekerinska visited the Regional Cyber Capability Center (WB3C) and the State Cyber Security Operations Center of Montenegro (GSOC) today.

Dukaj, the Ministry of Public Administration announced, emphasized that the cyber attack in August 2022 showed how important Montenegro's membership in NATO is, and that adequate support was immediately received from the allies.

"For us, this was a kind of catalyst for strategic reforms of our cyber policy. In less than three years of intensive, dedicated and professional work, in cooperation with relevant partners and allies, we have achieved extraordinary results that we are proud of. Today, not only do we have protection at the highest level, but Montenegro, thanks to the Western Balkans Regional Cyber Capabilities Center, is becoming a place for exchanging experiences and acquiring new knowledge in this area," said Dukaj.

He expressed the view that for Montenegro, as a member of NATO and a candidate country for EU membership, the establishment of the Regional Cyber Capabilities Center (WB3C) was of particular importance.

"And the fact that the center is located in Podgorica testifies to our commitment to and strengthening not only national, but also regional cybersecurity. In this way, Montenegro demonstrates a concrete readiness to meet the standards and obligations that accompany the process of accession to the European Union. Montenegro demonstrates a clear commitment to contribute, on an equal footing with other allies, to a broader response to the growing challenge that cybersecurity represents. I believe that the issue of the Western Balkans will remain in the focus of NATO's activities," said Dukaj.

According to the statement, Šekerinska praised the progress of Montenegro's cyber potential.
