Ivan Ašanin verbally resigned from the position of Vice President of the Municipality of Mojkovac today.
He did this at a session of the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly (MA).
Ašanin did not submit his resignation in writing, which means that the resignation is not formal.
His resignation was not on the agenda of the session, which was adjourned due to lack of quorum.
Ašanin told "Vijesti" that as of today "he is essentially not the vice president of the Municipality, and this will be formally confirmed at the next session of the Municipal Assembly."
He recalled that he resigned because he did not want to bear part of the responsibility for the lack of implementation of development projects in Mojkovac.
He previously proposed that information on the status of development projects in the Municipality of Mojkovac be included on the agenda of the Municipal Assembly session.
He claims that there has been a "stall in development projects in Mojkovac, as well as the failure to fulfill promised projects and their failure to be included in the procedure, both in the state and local budgets."
He also said that by resigning, he wanted to "dissociate himself from such a situation and dysfunctional local government, which was particularly pronounced over the past year."
Ašanin told "Vijesti" yesterday that he had "frozen his membership in the Civic Movement URA".
Mojkovac Municipal Assembly President Marko Janketić told "Vijesti" yesterday that the initiative submitted by Ašanin, which relates to considering the status of development projects in Mojkovac, cannot be included in the local parliament session, because neither the prescribed form nor the deadline were respected.
However, as the president of the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly says, the status of development projects will be discussed at the first upcoming session of the local parliament.
The initiative to review the status of development projects in that city was signed by representatives of the councilor clubs of several political entities that make up the Mojkovac government.
The local government in Mojkovac is made up of the coalition For the Future of Mojkovac, Democratic Montenegro, Civic Movement URA, United Montenegro and We Will Not Leave Mojkovac, with 17 out of a total of 31 councilors.
Councilors from the opposition Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) did not attend the local parliament session today.
