The President of the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Cetinje, Oskar Huter, announced today at the session of the Assembly of the Royal Capital that the councilors of that party are collectively resigning and returning their mandates to the citizens, reports RTV Cetinje.
As he stated, this decision was made due to the deteriorated security situation in Cetinje and the institutional inability to provide security to citizens.
DPS councilors left the assembly hall after presenting their views.
In a statement to RTV Cetinje, Huter said that DPS councilors tried in every way to achieve unity.
"Our role in parliament is meaningless, because as a parliament we cannot get answers from the addresses to which we sent our requests. After almost three years since the first tragedy, the local parliament has not managed to come up with a single answer, to have someone take us into account, let alone implement our requests. The local parliament has done nothing, the security situation is getting worse, innocent citizens are suffering. This parliament should, above all, deal with security. We have not managed to get answers from the relevant addresses. The local parliament finds no common ground in this," Huter told RTV Cetinje.
The Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, announced that today's resignations of some DPS councilors are "just cheap advertising before the elections because citizens need to know that this mandate will definitely end in a few months."

"So, resigning a few months before the end of the mandate is nothing more than the beginning of the election campaign. Instead of unity, the fight for the city and its citizens, and support for changing things for the better in our Cetinje, they have once again confirmed that they are only interested in elections and the fight for power," Đurašković wrote on Facebook.
He added that it was strange that the entire DPS "did not resign in the state parliament, which, unlike the Cetinje and city administrations, is the administration responsible for security in the country and in Cetinje."
"However, regardless of everything, I once again call for unity and the fight for Cetinje, as I have done throughout my mandate. A hand is extended, always for the good of Cetinje," said Đurašković.
