Today's decision by some councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to resign from their councilor positions, a few months before the regular local elections, is clearly politicking, said Nina Milošević, a councilor of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Assembly of the Royal Capital.
"Despite public messages about Cetinje's unity due to the tragedies that have befallen us as a city, we have unfortunately found ourselves in a situation of open politicization by individuals who have done everything to prevent Cetinje's unity and togetherness from happening," Milošević stressed in a statement.
According to her, the Assembly of the Royal Capital, through its extraordinary sessions, dozens of collegium sessions, and the formation of a working group for monitoring and implementing the Conclusions adopted in connection with the tragic events, has done everything that the competences of that parliament allowed.
"The city administration has also, within its jurisdiction, carried out dozens of activities in these four months, which citizens were informed about at the last session of the Assembly, which was broadcast live on national television," said Milošević.
As he adds, "we are witnessing, unfortunately, that some people's goal is not the progress and development of our city, but exclusively the fight for office."
"Luckily for them, we will not resort to such things, but will continue to do what the citizens of Cetinje have given us the trust for – dedicatedly and responsibly. PS Today I honestly thought that we are all one," said Milošević.
Lipovina: Resignations of DPS councilors a pre-staged play, where is the moral responsibility in the Montenegrin parliament?
SDP councilor in the Assembly of the Royal Capital, Ana Lipovina, announced that the resignations of DPS councilors are nothing more than a pre-staged play.

"Another attempt to create the illusion of responsibility ahead of the elections. Resigning at the end of the mandate, when everything is already over, is not an act of courage. It is politicking. A cheap tactic to use the tragedies that befell Cetinje to score political points," Lipovina stressed in a statement.
Instead of, as he points out, showing unity and commitment to solving the problem, they are once again choosing cameras, slogans, and manipulation.
"These resignations are not an act of conscience, it's just another show for the public. Because they don't seem to know anything else. And where are the resignations from positions where decisions are actually made? Where is the moral responsibility in the Montenegrin parliament? There is none because the positions that carry real power are still being guarded with great care," Lipovina stressed.
According to her, Cetinje does not need actors, but people who will truly work for the city.
"Enough of the games. The elections are coming, and then the citizens of Cetinje will have their say, about the set design, about the actors from the DPS and those who really work," said Lipovina.
