A commemorative session was held today in the Parliament of Montenegro on the occasion of the death of former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Damjan Šećković. The session was opened by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Mirsad Nurković.
The attendees were addressed by the MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Nikola Milović, who said that Šećković had reached heights that would make his name not only remembered by history - because his work and personality would live on in the times ahead.
He, the Assembly announced, emphasized that Šećković was a respected intellectual of the old school, but above all, he was an erudite, a man of versatile knowledge and interests, and of particular wisdom and prudence.

"Damjan Šećković was an excellent expert on law - from stock market law to constitutional law - politics, economics and business, ethics, history, Montenegrin culture and customs. As such, he was a man whose word always had true weight - whether he did so as a political actor, a scientist or as a friend - the sincere, well-intentioned, precious one," said Milović.
He pointed out that for DPS, Šećković was a figure of special importance and even greater authority from the very beginning.
"He was a man who, with his knowledge and actions, his vision and advice, shaped our party. And he also shaped this parliament, in which he served in different systems, both as an MP and vice president," said Milović.

He pointed out that the generations he taught to will best speak about Damjan Šećković as a scientist and professor, building himself over time into one of the most influential and credible lecturers.
"During his life, Professor Damjan unerringly guided us where to go next. Even in the most delicate moments for our party and our country. And for that we are especially grateful to him," said MP Milović, emphasizing that Šećković was most dedicated to his greatest treasure, his family, "which he would always talk about to everyone first, which he was proud of, and whose generations can speak with special honor about who their Damjan was."
Professor Šećković's daughter, Tanja Radunović, addressed the audience on behalf of the family, stating that her father had a hardworking and productive life.
"He was a man who, through his life and work, left a deep mark on our society. His view of the world was deeply realistic and imbued with sincerity. He taught us not to run away from reality, but to accept it as it is, courageously and with dignity. He believed in freedom of spirit and independence in work. He encouraged us to think freely, act responsibly, and build our own path, based on truth and solid values."

Radunović emphasized that Professor Šećković's contribution through politics, science, and education is exceptional and has left a deep mark on the history of Montenegro.
"He was a man who consistently, through various roles, worked to strengthen state institutions and social awareness. Through his rich scientific and political legacy, he will be remembered as one of those who dedicated his life to building a modern, civic and European Montenegro," said Radunović, emphasizing that her father found his foundation in the family to which he was completely devoted.
