Mašković: I expect that at the next session we will open up numerous issues that have been kept quiet about in previous months

"How much this initiative was needed is shown by the fact that, in addition to the European Union, it was also signed by councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the civic movement URA and the Party of European Progress (SEP). There is a ruckus in the functioning between the legislative and executive branches. That is why there have been no sessions for so long," said Mašković.

Opposition clubs in the Capital City Assembly have submitted an initiative to schedule a special session for councilor issues, because the last one of that nature was held in November 2023, councilor Miloš Mašković told "Vijesti".

According to him, the opposition decided to take this step in order to enable them to perform their function and "control the work of the government."

"The fact that, in addition to the European Union, it was signed by councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the civic movement URA, and the Party of European Progress (SEP) shows how much this initiative was needed. There is a rumbling in the functioning between the legislative and executive branches. That is why there have been no sessions for so long," said Mašković.

He emphasized that the councilors have not yet received a report on the work of Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović, nor "the report on the work of the company."

The Capital City Assembly previously told Vijesti that Mujović submitted a report on his work on March 27th.

"Accordingly, the report was submitted within the deadline stipulated in Article 58, paragraph 1, item 12 of the Law on Local Self-Government ('Official Gazette of Montenegro', no. 2/18, 34/19, 38/20, 50/22 and 84/22), which reads: 'The Mayor of the Municipality ... shall submit to the Assembly an annual report on his work and the work of the bodies and services referred to in Article 69 of this Law, by 31 March of the current year for the previous year.'", said the Capital City Assembly.

Mašković pointed out that this is a huge problem because it involves non-transparent work.

"This is a huge problem, because the lack of transparency is in force. We do not know how these companies functioned in the previous year... I expect that at the next session we will open numerous issues that have been kept quiet in the previous months. First of all, I am thinking of projects such as the collector in Botun, the department store, but also the work, or rather the inaction, of many companies, because many illegal things have happened in the meantime," said Mašković.

The European Union councilor supported the initiative of the Preokret Movement, which, as they announced yesterday, will prevent the privatization of the "Vodovod i kanalizacija" company. "If we were to put such an important company into bankruptcy, it would cause a real collapse in the capital. I think you understand how big a problem that would be," said Mašković.
