Montenegro has a responsibility and duty to foster a culture of remembrance, but also to work tirelessly to prevent any tragedies in the future, said Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the NATO bombing of Murin in 1999, in which six innocent civilians, including three children, lost their lives, he pointed out the importance of preserving the memory and the truth about that tragic event.
"Today, as we remember the tragedy that struck Murino and all of Montenegro, I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims," said Krapović.
He, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, said that the event left deep scars on Montenegrin society.
"The loss of the lives of children and civilians, whose names and memories we must preserve from oblivion, is particularly tragic," said Krapović.
He said that, as Minister of Defense, but above all as a human being, he feels an obligation to remember the suffering of Murin and to advocate for the idea of peace, stability and mutual respect.
"Montenegro has a responsibility and duty to foster a culture of remembrance, but also to work tirelessly to prevent any tragedies in the future," Krpaović emphasized.
He added that the anniversary is not just a reminder of the past.
"It is also a warning that the values of peace, humanity and solidarity must remain the foundation of our society," concluded Krapović.
