Prime Minister Milojko Spajić will invite Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović for consultations regarding the decision to appoint former long-time Speaker of the Parliament Ranko Krivokapić (SDP) as Minister-Advisor.
As "Vijesti" was told in the Prime Minister's office, Spajić finds the appointment of Krivokapić to that position unacceptable.
That Krivokapić was appointed as Minister-Advisor can be seen in the list of employees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on the Government's website on April 23rd.
Minister-Counselor is a high-ranking diplomatic title.
According to Article 72 of the Law on Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs may, without public announcement, issue a decision on the employment of "a person with appropriate experience in scientific and research work, significant diplomatic experience, professional titles and skills or experience in working in international and other organizations."
"The person referred to in paragraph 1 of this article shall enter into an employment relationship for a fixed period of time," the Law states.
Krivokapić was the President of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2003-2016, and in 2022 he briefly served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of Dritan Abazović.
He was the president of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) from 2001-2019. He is the honorary president of the SDP.
