The Europe Now Movement will not cooperate in Nikšić with those parties that threaten the priorities of the state government, said Zoran Mrkić, the leader of that party's list in the local elections.
"In the days when we witness that prominent officials of certain opposition structures accept to be part of the Government through advisory positions, which they have qualified very negatively, and when we know that in Budva we have the power of the parliamentary opposition and the former part of the DF, which protested the resolution on Srebrenica, then it is clear that the opposition has no principles or ideology, except for the inappropriate hunger for positions, to which they have been accustomed for more than thirty years. In that sense, if the current mayor of Nikšić Marko Kovačević had offered them positions based on depth, the opposition would have quickly supported him, just as they did with part of the former DF in Budva," Mrkić said.
He says that the opposition in the election campaign in Nikšić "defined two goals" - to defeat the constituents of the current state government and to "cause as much political damage as possible to PES", by repeating the thesis that a vote for that party is actually a vote for Marko Kovačević.
"However, as soon as the elections were over, the opposition did not mind publicly calling on PES to cooperate, forgetting about the dirty campaign and another fact - a vote for PES was always a vote not to return to Đukanović's DPS. In that sense, all those PES voters who did not fall for various propaganda narratives in Nikšić can rest assured and be sure that we will not cooperate with those parties that threaten the priorities of the state government, from economic development, the rule of law to the European integration of our country. In the meantime, we would not be surprised if the opposition also supports the current mayor of Nikšić, if Kovačević gives them one of the advisory positions," the statement reads.
