Today's statement by the leader of the Europe Now Movement (PES) list, Zoran Mrkić, in which he bluntly justifies a certain coalition with nationalist Marko Kovačević, is just a continuation of this movement's servile and humble attitude towards Andrija Mandić and other followers of the backward nationalist ideology that is destroying Montenegro day by day, the Municipal Committee (OO) of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in Nikšić announced today.
"This attitude of PES towards the former Democratic Front has led to them halving their rating in just two years and turning into the new Democrats - a party without ideology, stance and character, which serves as a satellite of Andrija Mandić, Milan Knežević, Marko Kovačević and their ilk. That is why they are obviously hurt by the truth that we announced in the election campaign that every vote given to PES is actually a vote for Marko Kovačević - and the development of events in recent days confirms this," the DPS Nikšić statement states.
They added that "it remains to be seen whether the cowardice of the PES will be so great that they will be forced to raise their hand for someone who salutes the national anthem with the middle finger, who belittles the achievements of anti-fascism and files charges against journalists and activists for their criticism, and who submits a report not to the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, but to the Serbian Parliament."
"However - the future development of events will completely expose the essence and further fate of the Europe Now Movement because they are choosing between the civic and European Nikšić on the one hand and the chauvinist Marko Kovačević on the other. How those who choose the second option fare is best seen in the example of the Movement for Change, URE and all others who entered the circle with Andrija Mandić and his followers and who are today below the census and on the margins of the Montenegrin political scene. In the end - let PES do whatever it thinks is right, and DPS will continue to be the bulwark of defense of a civic, European and modern Montenegro, both in government and in opposition, and we will not give up these values for any privilege, official position or the grip of power," said the DPS Nikšić.
The leader of the PES list in the local elections in Nikšić held on April 13, Zoran Mrkić, said earlier today that PES will not cooperate in Nikšić with those parties that threaten the priorities of the state government.
