Montenegro is committed to closing the remaining negotiation chapters, with the aim of becoming a member of the European Union by 2028, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.
Today, in the Polish city of Warsaw, he participated in an informal meeting of the heads of diplomacy of the EU member states (GIM) with the foreign ministers of the candidate countries.
The focus of the talks was on key challenges in European foreign and security policy, with particular emphasis on strengthening resilience to hybrid threats, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
They also discussed the steps the EU is taking to strengthen security and its role on the global stage, and Ibrahimović, in this regard, emphasized that Montenegro is committed to strengthening overall resilience and increasing defense spending.
He pointed out the importance of joint action in facing contemporary security challenges, especially in the context of hybrid threats and foreign influences. He assessed that a clear and credible European perspective for candidate countries contributes to long-term stability in both the region and Europe.
"The visibility of the European Union in the Western Balkans and clear messages about common values, achievements and the European perspective represent the best response to harmful narratives," Ibrahimović assessed.
