The Šavnik opposition, which is blocking the Šavnik-Žabljak road in protest of the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as mayor and the unresolved election crisis that has been going on since October 2022, has announced that the blockade will last for three hours from Sunday, May 11 - from 12:30 to 15:30.

"Even after 73 days of our blockade, none of the officials have yet addressed us and taken a stand on the issue of Šavnik," the opposition said, announcing the radicalization of the protests, "if they continue to ignore us."

The blockade is organized by the coalitions "For the Future of Šavnik" (NSD, SNP, DNP) and "Let's Go People" (DCG, UCG, PES). They began blocking the aforementioned main road on February 27th.

The opposition demands that representatives of the legislative and executive branches of government in the country react and resolve the Šavnik crisis that has been ongoing since the 2022 local elections, which have not yet been concluded. As they said, they will continue with the blockade until the Šavnik issue is resolved.

Two months ago, they wrote to Jakov Milatović, Milojko Spajić, and Andrija Mandić, asking them to organize a joint meeting to try to find a way out of the crisis, but the meeting has not yet taken place.
