Moldovan President Maja Sandu will pay an official visit to Montenegro on May 19, at the invitation of President Jakov Milatović, the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro announced today.
The statement states that this is the first official visit by a Moldovan president to Montenegro.
The Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro said that Sanda will be welcomed at the Residence in Cetinje, with the highest state and military honors, followed by a conversation between the two officials.
"After signing the guest book and meeting the two delegations, the presidents will make public statements and plant a friendship tree in the courtyard of the Residence in Cetinje. President Sandu will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Partisan-Fighter on Gorica Hill in the presence of President Milatović, followed by a ceremonial lunch," the statement reads.
The Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro said that the visit to Sandu is a confirmation of "the excellent relations between the two countries and represents a continuation of President Milatović's intensive diplomatic activity aimed at promoting Montenegro internationally."
"Also, President Sandu's visit is a strong signal for further strengthening interstate ties, as well as support for the joint efforts of Montenegro and Moldova on the path towards full membership in the European Union," said the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.
