Moldovan President Maja Sandu is paying an official visit to Montenegro, at the invitation of President Jakov Milatović, the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro announced today.
The statement added that this is the first official visit by a Moldovan president to Montenegro.
"President Sanda was welcomed at the Cetinje Residence with the highest state and military honors by President Milatović. After signing the guest book, a conversation between the two officials and a meeting of the two delegations, the presidents will make public statements and plant a friendship tree in the courtyard of the Cetinje Residence," the statement said.
The Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro said that the official visit to Sando is a confirmation of "the excellent relations between the two countries and represents a continuation of President Milatović's intensive diplomatic activity aimed at promoting Montenegro internationally."
"Also, President Sandu's visit is a strong signal for further strengthening interstate ties, as well as support for the joint efforts of Montenegro and Moldova on the path towards full membership in the European Union," the statement reads.
