Montenegro appreciates Denmark's position that the European Union (EU) enlargement process should be based on results and individual merits in the reform process, said Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
In a post on the X platform, he stated that, after speaking with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen last week at the EPC Summit in Tirana, he today received that country's Minister of European Affairs, Maria Bjere.
Milatović emphasized that Montenegro greatly appreciates Denmark's support for its European path.
"As well as the position that the EU enlargement process should be based on results and individual merits in the reform process," Milatović added.
He said he is convinced that Denmark's presidency of the Council of the EU during the second half of this year will be stimulating for Montenegro's path towards EU membership.
"I am also convinced that we have a sincere partner in them to fulfill our foreign policy priority, full membership in the EU by 2028," Milatović concluded.
