This officially ended the mandates of the current Municipal Assembly President Ivan Otović and Vice President Dragana Stanišić.

Miloš Konjević took the oath, and then thanked for the trust shown in him that after his fifth election as a councilor, he would find himself at the head of what he said was a sacred home for him, according to a statement on the Municipality's website.

"I entered this hall in 2012 with the greatest respect and sense of responsibility, remembering the great men who led our city in the past. At that time, I represented the first, historic, mandate of a local party, which is experiencing a new, historic day today, because the first person to be elected as the Municipal Assembly member was elected from its ranks. In thirteen years of work as a councilor in the local parliament and as a vice president in cooperation with the local parliament, I have experienced everything - government and opposition, praise and criticism, peaceful but also stormy debates," said Konjević.

As he pointed out, his goal as president is to make the Municipal Assembly a place of democratic dialogue and making the best decisions for the citizens of Herceg Novi.

"My goal is for the voice of citizens to be heard more and louder, and this will only happen if we take our duties seriously and if we open the doors of this house, and our councilors' clubs, to all the people of Novi. Finally, I promise you all that as the President of the Assembly, I will work hard and that I will work honestly. I promise that I will always and everywhere be a worthy representative of the city that I love most in the world. I owe that to all of you who have given me trust. I owe that to all the people of Novi. We all owe that to our children and the generations to come. Long live Herceg Novi," said Konjević.
