We can preserve and develop Montenegro only on the values of anti-fascism, secularism, and civil society, and it can only be built by those who love and respect it, said today the president of the Liberal Party and one of the leaders of the European Alliance, Vatroslav Belan.
He said this in response to Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović's statement earlier today: "We must preserve and develop Montenegro on the values of unity and democracy."
"'To the values of togetherness'. How beautiful and festive that sounds, and yet it echoes with the cowardly emptiness of the 'good morning to all four sides' policy. Around whose figure and work will we all gather, the criminal Pavle Đurišić or the hero Ljubo Čupić? Are we gathering around the values of May 21, 2006 or around the Podgorica Assembly from 1918 and the Montenegro that Momir Bulatović imagined? I am in favor of Montenegro's membership in the EU, while President Milatović is building 'values of togetherness' in Podgorica with Vladislav Dajković, who says that Montenegro has no place in the EU (European Union) and suggests BRICS as a better option. Are we gathering around the flag of Montenegro or Russia? Did he ask his partners from the DNP?" Belan wrote on the social network Iks.
He added that "Hitler's Germany built its 'community values' on Nazism, which was quite unifying."
"Therefore, we can preserve and develop Montenegro only on the values of anti-fascism, secularism, civil society, and it can only be built by those who love and respect it, with a sharp response to attempts to distort history and rehabilitate Chetnik ideology. The president must today clearly call for us to gather around these values. If he is allowed to, of course," said Belan.
