Relations between Montenegro and Greece have great potential for further development, and the friendship between the two peoples is a solid foundation for future cooperation at the bilateral and European levels, it was assessed at the meeting of the Speakers of the Montenegrin and Greek Parliaments, Andrija Mandić and Nikitas Kaklamanis.
At a meeting with Kaklamanis in Greece, Mandić emphasized that there is a traditional closeness between the peoples of Montenegro and Greece and added that it is important to improve parliamentary and overall cooperation between the two countries.
He, as announced by the Parliament, said that the New Serbian Democracy, of which he is the president, found inspiration for its name precisely in the name of the party of which Kaklamanis is a member – New Democracy.

The Parliament said that Mandić and Kaklamanis also discussed Montenegro's European future.
"Mandić informed his interlocutor that Montenegro closed three negotiation chapters at the end of 2024 and that the plan is to close all chapters by the end of 2026, and that in 2028 Montenegro will become the first member of the European Union (EU)," the statement said.
It is stated that at the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the significant support that Greece, as an EU member state, can provide to Montenegro in this process.
Kaklamanis emphasized that the Parliament of Montenegro will have "those closest to it" in the Greek Parliament and that it will always give its maximum when it comes to supporting Montenegro on its path towards full membership in the EU.

Mandić invited Kaklamanis to visit Montenegro, which Kaklamanis accepted with pleasure, adding that he would see him in Podgorica very soon.
"It was mutually assessed that relations between Montenegro and Greece have great potential for further development and that the friendship between the two peoples is a solid foundation for future cooperation at the bilateral and European levels," the statement said.
