Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović will meet today with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, with whom he will discuss the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague and the planned increase in defense spending.
Landau is Deputy Secretary of State Marco Rubio and leads the US delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Dayton.
Milatović will, as announced by his cabinet, be visiting the United States of America (USA) until Monday.
"He already has an important meeting today with Deputy US Secretary of State Christopher Landau," the statement said.
It is reported that this is the first official meeting between Montenegro and a high-ranking official in the administration of US President Donald Trump.
"Considering the strategic importance of the US as a key foreign policy partner of Montenegro, the topics of the meeting will be the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague and the planned increase in defense spending, as well as the strategic partnership with the US," the statement said.
