European Council President Antonio Costa confirmed that Montenegro will host the next EU-Western Balkans summit.

He made the announcement on Iks after a conversation with the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.

"I just spoke with President Jakov Milatović after a productive visit to Montenegro, as part of a tour of the Western Balkans two weeks ago. I was impressed by the country's progress in the EU accession process. I thanked him for agreeing to host the next EU-Western Balkans summit in Montenegro in the fall of 2026 - a symbolic year for Montenegro and the twentieth anniversary of its independence," Košta wrote.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said yesterday that Montenegro will be awarded the organization of the EU-Western Balkans summit for 2026.
