The President of the Capital City Assembly and all heads of the majority clubs in that local parliament called on Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) councilor Stefan Ćulafić to apologize to the families of Duško Jovanović, Slavoljub Šćekić, Pavle Bulatović, Darko Beli Raspopović, Goran Žugić, as well as the families of "all victims of the 'black threes' and their orderers and perpetrators."
They told him that there can be no "true reconciliation of all citizens" of Montenegro, regardless of party or ideological affiliation, without facing the truth.
The President of the Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, and the presidents of the parliamentary clubs, Anđela Mićović (PES), Mitar Paunović (Democrats), Mitar Šušić (ZBPG - NSD-SNP-UCG), Vladimir Bulatović (ZBPG - DNP-SCG-PCG) and Miloš Krstović (PZPG), reacted to what they said were unacceptable statements by Ćulafić during this morning's appearance on Television of Montenegro.
"Namely, colleague Ćulafić said on that occasion that politically motivated murders of dissenters and independent journalists 'should not be discussed', because these topics allegedly strongly polarize Montenegrin society. In vain did the Montenegrin public expect that yesterday's testimony of a high-ranking security official from the time of the omnipotence of the former regime would be a trigger that would force even those who do not share our ideological and political visions to stop, take off their party helmets and call for an investigation, for evidence, for justice for the victims and punishment for the executioners, for the sake of a humane and civilized relationship towards themselves and others, towards the living and the murdered, towards Montenegro and the world. This was especially expected from the younger generation, who would thus have the chance to at least remove the mortgage of the bloody hands of their party elders," reads a joint statement submitted to the media by the Democrats.
"However, the DPS youth has resorted to extremely irresponsible relativization, which sends an extremely dangerous message: that monstrous crimes should remain unsolved, and that society should never face the dark parts of its own past, in which individuals suffered simply because they thought differently or had the courage to oppose the repressive system. We publicly call on our colleague Ćulafić to apologize without delay to the families of Duško Jovanović, Slavoljub Šćekić, Pavle Bulatović, Beli Raspopović, Goran Žugić, as well as to the families of all victims of the 'black threes' and their orderers and perpetrators. And finally, colleague Ćulafić, there can be no true reconciliation of all citizens of Montenegro, regardless of party or ideological affiliation, without facing the truth. And if this is the face of the 'reformed' DPS, then it is no surprise that the honorary president of this 'new' generation of politicians is precisely Milo Đukanović," they said.
