Šavnik opposition: From Monday, every day from 13 pm to 16 pm, blockade of the Šavnik-Žabljak road

The Šavnik opposition announced today that starting Monday, June 9th, they will block the Šavnik-Žabljak main road every day from 13 p.m. to 16 p.m.

"Despite announcements that the crisis in Šavnik will be resolved through amendments to the law, to this day there has been no concrete epilogue. Today marks 100 days since the beginning of our protests, and there is still no solution," reads a press release from the Šavnik opposition, which is blocking the Šavnik-Žabljak road in protest of the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as mayor and the unresolved election crisis that has lasted since October 2022.

The blockade is organized by the coalitions "For the Future of Šavnik" (NSD, SNP, DNP) and "Let's Go People" (DCG, UCG, PES).

They began blocking the road on February 27th.

The opposition demands that representatives of the legislative and executive branches of government in the country react and resolve the Šavnik crisis, which has been ongoing since the 2022 local elections, which have not yet been completed.

As they said, they will continue with the blockade until the Šavnik issue is resolved.

They had a break of several days due to the death of one of the blockade participants.

"Learning from past experience, we are forced to continue with the protests and are determined not to give up until this issue is resolved in a fair and legal manner. Starting Monday, the protests will be held every day from 13:16 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM. Once again, we appeal to the competent institutions to take responsibility and finally resolve this situation that has been going on for too long," the statement said.
