The Herceg Novi branch of the Civic Movement URA nominated current leader Dritan Abazović for president of the party. They proposed political director Ana Novaković Đurović, current vice president Milena Vuković, and the party's leader in Budva, Blaža Radjenović, as vice presidents.
URA announced that preparations have begun for the fourth regular party congress, which they said should be held in July. "On that occasion, the URA Herceg Novi municipal board held a session last night, which thus became the first board from which the intra-party race began."
At the meeting, a list of candidates for delegates to the Congress from that city was proposed, and there were also proposals regarding amendments to the Statute, which will also be the subject of consideration at the Congress.
The Herceg Novi URA stressed that it is particularly important to strengthen the party as "the only truly civic option in the country", which has "shown that it can stop the surges of populism and nationalism on the one hand, but also the return of criminal structures to positions of power on the other". "Montenegro needs competent politics more than ever that can direct the country on the path of development and bring it into the European Union", the statement reads.
The meeting in Herceg Novi was also attended by the Vice President of the URA Border Guard Miloš Konatar, the Political Director Ana Novaković Đurović, and the Executive Director Zoran Mikić.
"URA is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, so the Congress will be organized as a jubilee. Municipal committee meetings continue tomorrow when it is Bar's turn," the statement reads.
