The President of the Parliament of Montenegro and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy, Andrija Mandić, attended a ceremonial reception on the occasion of Russia Day at the invitation of the new Russian Ambassador to Montenegro, Alexander Lukashik.
Mandić wrote on his Iks account that this meeting was an opportunity to once again remind ourselves of the historical ties that connect the peoples of Montenegro and Russia, ties that, as he said, are based on a common past and spiritual closeness.
"The people of Montenegro will never forget that one of our great Metropolitans and masters of Montenegro, Bishop Vasilije Petrović Negoš, rests in St. Petersburg with all the honors bestowed upon him by the former imperial Russia," Mandić wrote.
He also announced that he presented the Russian ambassador with a symbolic gift - a crystal replica of Njegoš's votive chapel on Lovćen, as well as a special edition of the monograph "Magical Montenegro - through the eyes of foreigners", which, as the President of the Assembly said, testifies to the beauty and spirit of our country, seen through the eyes of those who come to us from all over the world.
The reception was also attended by the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Joanikije.
