By the votes of the councilors of the government, the following were elected as vice-presidents of the Municipality of Nikšić: Zoran Tomic from the Socialist People's Party (SNP), who was also the Vice President of the Municipality in the previous term, and Vidak Krtolica, a member of the Democrats, who until now served as the Secretary of the Secretariat for Municipal Affairs and Transport. A councilor of the European Union also voted for Krtolica's election.
Krtolica thanked his party colleague and former president of the Municipal Assembly Nemanja Vuković, who nominated him for Vice President of the Municipality on behalf of that party, as well as to the councilors from whom he received support during the vote.
"As I have done so far in my role as secretary, I will continue to work in the interests of the citizens. I hope that we will complete these projects that have been started, create new ones, and that we will definitely make this city even more beautiful for the lives of the citizens of Nikšić," said Krtolica.
After the session, Tomić emphasized that he would use his new mandate to continue working on the development of Nikšić together with his colleagues.
"Over the past four years, we have shown that we know how to lead Nikšić in the next four years. As we announced in the campaign, we continue to work for the interests of all citizens of Nikšić. We will continue to work on all the projects we have started. I hope that we will also start new ones, and in the next four years create a better place for all Nikšić residents to live. Thank you to the councilors for their support, but also to those who voted against. This will motivate us to work better," said Tomić.
They said that the areas they will focus on have not yet been defined.
A councilor from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is at the session. Rajko Perovic He pointed out that two days before the session, the councilors received a proposal stating that Nemanja Vuković was the candidate on behalf of the Democrats, and that five minutes after the session began, they received a new proposal with the name Vidaka Krtolica. As he pointed out, he thought that the election of the president of the Municipal Assembly had completed the "rewriting" of opinions, but that the government, according to him, continues to play with the Assembly and citizens because they change the names of candidates for certain positions every now and then and that this is "not nice, especially towards those people". He also emphasized that in the documents with the proposals for the deputy mayors of the Municipality, they did not receive "an explanation of what each candidate is responsible for".
"DPS will gladly vote against the election of the proposed candidates for vice presidents. People mean nothing to you, names mean nothing to you," said Perović.
He compared the situation in the Municipality to the situation in the company "Solar", whose director appeared in the media in the evening, presenting data on business, plans for the next five years, and talked about the future of the company, only to resign from that position the next morning. According to him, the reason for his resignation is the fact that he has to "fire 60 workers who were employed under a temporary contract before the local elections."
"They were accepted to vote for you. And now 60 people and 60 families should be left without a livelihood. Not a single person should be left without a job, so let them vote against my party," Perović said.
The new government in Nikšić consists of the coalitions "For the Future of Nikšić" (15 seats), Democrats-Plenum 083 (three seats) and the Europe Now Movement (five seats), while the opposition benches include DPS (16 seats) and the European Alliance (two seats).
