The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Montenegro announced today that it is closely monitoring the development of the security situation in Israel, Iran and the wider region, and advises citizens to avoid all travel to these countries until further notice, due to the deteriorating security situation and increased risk to personal safety.

The statement added that the MFA is in constant communication with partner countries, allies and honorary consuls in the countries of the region, with the aim of monitoring the situation and providing support to Montenegrin citizens.

"According to currently available information, no Montenegrin citizens have been injured. The Ministry has been informed that a Montenegrin citizen, residing in Jordan, has contacted the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in that country to inquire about the possibilities of possibly leaving the territory of Jordan," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that so far there have been no requests for consular assistance or expressed interest in the return to Montenegro of Montenegrin citizens from Iran or Israel.

"The aviation authorities of Iran, Iraq and Israel have suspended civil air traffic until further notice. Citizens of Montenegro who are in the aforementioned countries are advised to exercise increased caution and take all measures to preserve their personal safety, including following official information and instructions from local authorities," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ervin Ibrahimović.
