It has been exactly five years since the then police, led by the Democratic Party of Socialists, stormed the Budva Municipality building - an event that was remembered by the people for the white T-shirts at the entrance to the Municipality building, tear gas for no reason and the so-called "heroes of spring", announced Željko Franeta, a member of the Budva Parliament for the Democrats.
"Today, five years later, while some are still searching for heroism, the citizens of Budva have completely found it – disappointment. Unfortunately, even after the historic victory on August 30, 2020, the essential turn that we all aspired to did not happen in Budva. There was clearly neither will nor vision in the post-August majority and we were forced to leave such and such a government. Instead of agreements – obstruction and blackmail for seats, instead of joint work – private projects. And today no one hides it anymore: part of the former Democratic Front has decided to 'projectively' get closer to its former opponents – the 'heroes of spring'. And let's be completely clear – this is not some kind of love that suddenly flared up at a political party," Franeta emphasized.
This is a project that, he added, appears to have been planned quietly, for a long time, and with fairly precise interests.
"We all feel the results of that 'project' majority - especially now, when we are preparing for another tourist season... or at least trying to prepare ourselves. Because, what can we say about a city that has not had an adopted plan for temporary locations for three years? In Budva, it is easier to get 'permission' to place pears on the promenade than to legally obtain any paper at the civic office. Sessions of the Budva Municipal Assembly have become a rarity - almost like a communal order. And when they are scheduled, it happens as an emergency procedure, as if someone wants to finish them as soon as possible, and not to do something concrete. Construction sites are sprouting like mushrooms after rain, and control over urban planning has long since lost both compass and map," Franeta pointed out and added:
"In the meantime, the city is - so to speak - 'standardly dirty', with a mild but recognizable smell of (un)sustainable development. Tourists have already arrived, and we can already welcome them to the city of improvisations, where everything works except the system. Our position remains clear - Budva needs responsible government, not temporary political experiments. Therefore, in the end, we also say to the so-called 'project heroes': one swallow does not make spring, and you did not bring it either. And just as you came with the first warm wind, so you - like a swallow - will fly away in the fall," concluded Franeta.
