The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Kolašin, Vasilije Ivanović, and the President of the Councilors' Club in the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Kolašin, Nada Selić, announced that they left the ruling coalition meeting in Kolašin, as they say, due to disagreements with part of the government regarding the functioning and management of the future Spatial Planning Agency, as well as other companies that, they add, should work in the interests of citizens.
"We disagree about the need for organized management of future sports facilities in the Lug zone. We believe that such projects require a clear vision and agreement, not improvisation and a misunderstanding of their importance for the local community," their joint statement, which they submitted to the media, states.
They say they are particularly concerned about facing open political obstruction.
"An example of this is the municipal finance secretary who does not issue employment certificates to candidates who meet all the requirements, but rather based on arbitrary assumptions about their political affiliation. Based on previous experience, we are convinced that such behavior is not accidental, but comes with the support of certain political entities and former officials."
"We have personally addressed the authorities several times regarding the infrastructure problems in the city. Roads are damaged, sidewalks are neglected, and green areas are overgrown. The utility company is not responding to the needs of citizens and is not fulfilling its basic function," stated Ivanović and Selić.
They say that they will not allow the development of Kolašin to fall victim to personal vanities and political games.
"By participating in government and assuming office, we have taken on the responsibility to translate the trust that citizens gave us in the elections into the progress of Kolašin. Therefore, all initiated and planned projects must continue unhindered. Kolašin deserves dynamic development and clear support from the Government of Montenegro - but without the blockages that come from a small part of the local leadership," the statement concludes.
