They tried in every way to destroy our politics and our party, primarily Belgrade did this through the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), the media community, the intelligence and security apparatus, and so far they have not managed to sway anyone within our party to withdraw from the front line of defense of state interests, announced the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković.
The DPS announced that he said this at a reception marking the 34th Day of the Party.
At the reception, Živković said that the results achieved in the previous year indicate a growth in support for DPS policies, but that this trend must continue in the coming years.
"In the past year, elections have been held in eight municipalities, where around 300.000 citizens had the right to vote. 176.000 of them exercised that right, and the Democratic Party of Socialists achieved a result of 49.547 votes, or 28,08%. These results also correspond with the regular public opinion polls we conduct, which show that the rating of the Democratic Party of Socialists is five percentage points higher today independently than in the elections two years ago, when we ran in coalition with the Social Democrats, the Liberal Party and the Democratic Union of Albanians. However, I believe that this result in the coming period - until the parliamentary elections, whenever they are - we must make it even stronger in order to strive for support for the policy that is today the only guarantee of defending the values on which modern Montenegro is based," Živković emphasized.
The statement added that Živković also referred to the results of the jubilee tenth Congress, which was held in February of this year, but also mentioned the obligations that await the party in the coming period.
"We must continue to work dedicatedly because our greatest strength is in the people we have at all levels - from members of local committees to the Party Presidency. We will especially focus on strategic communication and analytics in the coming period, and I am already announcing that we will start a door-to-door campaign starting in the fall, during which we will visit every house and household in Montenegro. These are the obligations that await us in order to continue to strengthen our policy and to be the strongest possible pillar of defense of the state against the attempts at general fascism that we are witnessing and the surge of nationalism," said Živković.
He added that all mechanisms were used to marginalize the DPS, but none of them yielded the expected results.

And that is why there is no division into young and old, new and former, because we are all together, on the same front, dedicated to strengthening the trust of the voting public in the Democratic Party of Socialists. And that is why, if today we are at 28 percent support, then let us do everything in our power to create such an advantage in the next elections that we will send this and this government into opposition because that is the only cure for this catastrophe that Montenegro is experiencing. I am convinced of this idea and this goal and there is no doubt that the DPS will become the bearer of socio-political responsibility even before we think it. With once again expressed gratitude for attending our celebration, may we eternal Montenegro", concluded Živković.
