The representative of the Europe Now Movement (PES) councilor in Danilovgrad announced today that the PES councilor in the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly (MA) was verbally attacked on his doorstep, in the presence of his wife and minor children.
"Regarding the uncivilized act of verbal attack on our colleague and councilor Dragan Medojević, which occurred on his doorstep, in the presence of his wife and minor children, the Club of Councilors of the Europe Now Movement Danilovgrad most strongly condemns this behavior, which represents a direct attack on the personal, family and political integrity of the councilor of the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly. Verbal threats, especially when made on the doorstep, in front of the family, represent an extremely dangerous and cowardly act, which aims to intimidate and destabilize our councilor as well as the very idea of free, responsible and principled civic action when irresponsible and socially harmful behavior has occurred," the Club of Councilors PES Danilovgrad emphasizes in a statement.
They added that Medojević "is a person with impaired health, which gives the entire event additional weight and obliges the competent authorities to consider their actions."
"The Europe Now Movement will not tolerate any form of violence, threats, intimidation or pressure on our members and elected representatives of citizens. We give full and unequivocal support to colleague Medojević and at this moment we inform the public that we will use all legal and institutional means to prosecute the person responsible and protect our colleague. At the same time, we call on all political entities, institutions of the system and the social community to take a clear stance against violence and threats as a means of political or personal reckoning," the PES Danilovgrad Councillors' Club said in a statement.
They said that any attack on a councilor is an attack on the institution of local government, and that they will not allow it.
"Finally, we say: The Club of Councilors of the Europe Now Movement - Danilovgrad will not back down in the face of pressure, threats and attempts at intimidation. We defend principles, we protect our people, and we will never remain silent when justice is trampled or something is done that is not in line with normal and correct behavior," they said on the doorstep, in front of the family.
