Montenegro needs to strengthen its diplomatic network, which is an instrument for a more active presence on the international scene, efficient representation of national interests and strengthening political and economic ties, said Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović.
At the opening of the second day of the 18th Summer School for Young Diplomats "Gavro Vuković" in Kolašin, Ivanovic said that modern diplomacy requires not only knowledge and professionalism, but also the ability to respond to complex global challenges.
"In such a context, the strength of diplomacy lies in its ability to build bridges, maintain trust and promote responsible policies. Montenegro remains strongly committed to membership in the European Union, which is not only our foreign policy goal, but also an expression of our value orientation and long-term strategic interest," said Ivanović.
He emphasized that cooperation among the countries of the Western Balkans is important, assessing that regional connectivity is one of the key prerequisites for stability, development, and a common European path.
Ivanovic, as announced by his cabinet, said that it is necessary to strengthen Montenegro's diplomatic network as an instrument for a more active presence on the international scene, efficient representation of national interests, and strengthening political and economic ties with partners around the world.
He thanked the organizers of the Summer School for Young Diplomats, as well as the international partners who support the school.
As Ivanovic emphasized, such programs are particularly important for building a sustainable, professional and globally networked diplomatic community.
"The Summer School for Young Diplomats, which has been organized for almost two decades under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, has established itself as a respectable regional platform for training young professionals in the field of international relations and diplomacy," the statement says.
It is stated that Ivanovic encouraged the participants to use this opportunity not only to gain knowledge, but also to connect with each other, because, as he pointed out, a diplomatic vocation is also built through trust and contacts created in informal circumstances.
"Get to know each other, build relationships, because these contacts can become the foundation of your future cooperation. Be authentic representatives of your countries, not only through the information you convey, but also through the way you communicate, listen and act," said Ivanovic.
