We will fight for restitution and the return of land to people that was taken away from them under some other system, said the president of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović, after he was re-elected as the president of that party at its congress last night.
The GP URA announced that last night at the 4th GP URA Congress on Lovćen, which also celebrated the party's ten years, Dritan Abazović was re-elected as the party's president in front of more than a thousand people, while Ana Novaković Đurović, Milena Vuković and Blažo Rađenović were elected as vice presidents.
In his speech after being elected president, Abazović thanked those present for their support, emphasizing that it was an indication that URA has many friends.
"The wealth of Montenegro is diversity. Don't look at it as a problem. Look at it as something good. Because God created us different. But he also created us to cooperate with each other, find the best solutions and make the community capable of responding to all challenges," Abazović emphasized.
He added that in the ten years of its existence, all sorts of things have happened when it comes to URA.
"We were with the citizens on the streets, we were with the citizens at protests, we were with the citizens where rivers were defended, we were with the citizens where beaches were defended, we were with the citizens where space was defended, we were in every place where injustice was committed. And during all that time, we have gained many enemies, but also friends. But always, from the first to the last day, from the founding on March 14, 2015 until today here on July 5, 2025 on Lovćen, we have always been guided by only one maxim: to be on the defender of the state. Many did not understand us, many do not understand us even today, but our idea is superior and it is not reflected in numbers, mandates, opposition, or government. It is reflected in what a society creates throughout history," said Abazović.
He announced that the Congress will also mark the start of the presentation of ERO's new program for the development of Montenegro, called "Montenegro 365".
"We are turning a new leaf and that is why I am saying from this place that for us the future begins now. We represent the vision of Montenegro 365. I call on all people of good will to support such an idea, to be part of a new vision. Now is the time to help Montenegro together. When I talk about the need to cleanse the country of corruption, it is only the first step towards strengthening our economy. Our vision is unambiguous and clear, and will develop in several main directions - first, a safe and fair one, secondly, for an ecological Montenegro, thirdly - for a Montenegro of social justice, fourthly, for Montenegro as a tourist destination 365 days a year and fifthly - for a Montenegro that has an economy that promotes individual wealth, we will fight for restitution and return of land to people that was taken away from them in some other system," Abazović emphasized.
He said that anyone who wants to work honestly, honorably, in accordance with the law and in accordance with the interests of Montenegro, and whoever is on that path, is their partner.
"Whoever is not on that path, we will be their biggest and fiercest critics, as we have been so far, and we will spoil their plans. Let us compete in goodness, and let us all show how much we know and can do, and I believe and am sure that the citizens will change this Government in the next elections and I am sure that the new government of Montenegro will be strong, that the idea of URA will be dominant in it, and URA will be one of the important factors in it," said Abazović.
According to him, "every success that URA has achieved, remember from 2020 until today, has been a success for Montenegro."
"Every time URA failed, Montenegro lost, but it's easy for URU. Look at the statistics, look at the results. Today, extreme politics is growing in Montenegro. Unfortunately, we are going back to the old ways. We thought we had finished that path in 2023, when that so-called political center managed to achieve a historic result. May all those who ruined it serve them well. It is human to make mistakes, but it is even more human not to repeat those mistakes," said Abazović.
He called for unity around good, vision, programs and plans.
"Tonight from Lovćen, from perhaps a point where a different perspective can be seen, from perhaps a place where the most beautiful view of the Boka Kotorska Bay and our country is offered, I want to say: Let us gather around the good. Let us gather around the vision. Let us gather around the program. Let us gather around the plans. Long live Montenegro. Long live the people, all the citizens who live here. Long live the idea of a united and strong Montenegro. Montenegro in the European Union and Montenegro reconciled with the entire region," concluded Abazović.
The statement says that in addition to delegates and supporters of URE, the Congress brought together numerous guests, representatives of almost all parties on the Montenegrin political scene, but also from the entire region and numerous European countries.
"Among other attendees, the following addressed the co-president of the European Green Party Kiran Kaf, the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, the co-president of the Green-Left Front of Serbia Radomir Lazović, on behalf of the Democratic Renewal of Macedonia Ervin Redžepagić, on behalf of the Party for BiH Adnan Dedić, from the Greens of the Netherlands Tara Skali, on behalf of the Platform for Serbia Vladimir Pavićević, the president of the DNP Milan Knežević, the deputy of the Europe USA Movement Miloš Pižurica, the vice president of the Democrats Dragana Kažanegra Stanišić, the president of the SNP and minister Vladimir Joković, on behalf of the Bosniak Party Jasmin Ćorović, the president of the Albanian Alternative and the deputy prime minister Nik Đeljošaj, the president of the Municipality of Ulcinj Genci Nimanbegu, the president of the Bosniak Democratic Movement Sead Šahman, the president of CIVIS Srđan Pavićević and many others," the statement reads.
The GP URA said that Abazović awarded plaques as a sign of gratitude to prominent party representatives, as well as civic activists and scientists who make an immeasurable contribution to the development of Montenegro in all its segments.
"The plaques were awarded to Dr. Miodrag Caro Pavličić as someone who saved numerous lives and made a special contribution to the development of healthcare, Prof. Dr. Rajka Glušica and Professor Božena Jelušić for their dedication to education, as well as the fight for freedom and equality in Montenegrin society, Prof. Dr. Martin Ćalasan as the only scientist from Montenegro whose patent was recognized by the United States of America, but also for his dedication to the development of the energy sector in Montenegro, civic and environmental activist Vuk Vujisić for his often higher and stronger contribution to environmental protection than the entire system, Jasna Gajević for the preservation and promotion of the natural beauties of Montenegro, Ilija Stanić for the improvement and promotion of agriculture, Stefan Vukmanović for innovation and development of new technologies, Veljko Banović and Ismet Redžepagić as one of the oldest members of URE for their dedication and perseverance in the joint struggle, Co-President of the European Green Party Kiran Kafa for joint cooperation and Goran Đurović as a successful businessman and humanist who, as a minister, achieved "historic results for Montenegro in the field of economy," the GP URA statement reads.
