Some citizens gathered in front of the Monument to the Partisan Fighter on Gorica Hill prevented Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović from giving a speech today.
Mujović was supposed to give a speech on the occasion of the celebration of Statehood Day organized by SUBNOR.
Those gathered protested and booed Mujović, calling him a "fascist".
They greeted Mujović's decision to cancel his speech with applause.
Mujović then returned and sat among the guests invited by SUBNOR to celebrate Statehood Day.
The organizers asked those gathered not to disrupt the ceremony, as it was a commemoration and celebration of July 13th.
"Please, the protests are in front of the Municipality, not here... Please let's remain civilized, this is a program and a project that has been prepared for half a year," said the program host. His appeal was in vain, so Mujović returned to where he was sitting.
A video from the event in front of the Monument to the Partisan Fighter was shared on the X network by Miloš Mašković, a councilor for the European Union in the Capital City Assembly.
"Today, citizens have clearly shown that Saša Mujović does not belong to the anti-fascist heritage of Montenegro. When the fighters rose up against fascism, they did not stand with those who relativize crimes, but with freedom, justice and dignity. A mayor who runs away from the whistles of citizens does not have the strength to stand in front of a monument to fallen fighters. After today's humiliation in Gorica, Saša Mujović no longer has political legitimacy. It is clear, after today, what citizens think of his policies and the policies of his party," Mašković wrote on the X network.
