A political associate of the Chetnik voivode has no business at an anti-fascist rally, said Ivan Vujović, president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and one of the leaders of the European Alliance, to Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović.
"While your coalition partners are pouring pure fascism on us every day, while they are celebrating war criminals, while they are elevating the criminal Chetniks to a pedestal of exemplary behavior, while they are destroying the state along all lines on the orders of the Belgrade dictator, did you, Mr. Mujović, think that anti-fascists would welcome you with applause? You are so sensitive that you and yours are bothered by the noise, but you are not at all bothered by the ideological poison and darkness of those who put you there," said Vujović.
"Do you think that blind people live in this country, so you sell criminals to them as heroes, that you make black look white, and proclaim holders of Hitler's decorations as martyrs and heroes," he asked Mujović.
"You greatly underestimate the citizens, Mayor Mujović. Mr. Mujović, you belong ideologically to the Chetnik government and as long as you are in that circle, expect this kind of reaction. There is no more room for mimicry and false justifications, while you agree to be apprentices to a poisonous and dark policy that dreams of new wars and ethnic cleansing," added Vujović.
He emphasized that he would not reconcile with Montenegro according to the customs of the Chetnik duke Mandić.
"You and everyone in your party are like who you are with! We will not reconcile with Montenegro, following the customs of the Chetnik duke Mandić and Šešelj's beer crate carrier Aco Vučić," Vujović concluded.
"If he doesn't understand why citizens greeted him with whistles, boos and turned their backs on him, he should ask his partners from the Democratic Party, the promoters of the character and misdeeds of Pavle Đurišić and Duke Andrija Mandić," said one of the leaders of the European Alliance and head of the Liberal Party, Vatroslav Belan.
He said that there is no room for acting, and that "Young Major Đurišić" and "Bella Ciao" do not go together.
"This beautiful and festive gathering concluded just as it should, with "Bella Ciao"," concluded Belan.
Today, the spirit of July 13th has reawakened in Montenegro, today the collaborator Mujović has been sent where he belongs - with his head bowed, said SD MP and European Union representative Nikola Zirojević.
"The fact that the mayor (intentionally small g) cursed the mother of a man from the crowd is a separate story," he added.
Zirojević said that today's rally is another victory for them.
"Step by step, patiently and steadfastly, the spirit of July 13th will be returned to every corner of Montenegro! A new July 13th will be born and new May dawns will dawn, even brighter! Happy Statehood Day, may Montenegro be eternal," he said in a post on the X network.
"Antifascism is not a matter of ceremony but of identity. It is not a symbol but an obligation. It is not just a memory, but an active fight against those who would justify crimes, equalize roles and humiliate the truth again," said Damir Šehović, president of the Social Democrats of Montenegro (SD) and one of the leaders of the European Alliance.
"On the Day of the Uprising of the People of Montenegro, which represents the foundation of a libertarian Montenegro, we are witnessing a cheap attempt to abuse the anti-fascist heritage, by those who deny it on a daily basis through political alliances with its deniers and loud silence in the face of Chetnik rehabilitation. One cannot stand by the Partisan monument and at the same time be in power with those who celebrate the Chetniks, relativize crimes and glorify the ideology for which July 13 was necessary," he added.
Šehović said that there is no excuse, no justification, and no bridge between fascism and anti-fascism.
"One cannot equate Partisans and Chetniks, nor remain silent in the face of those who spread historical revisionism, and expect respect from those who know the difference between fighting for freedom and serving the occupier. In short, these topics are non-negotiable," said one of the leaders of the European Union.
He assessed that the free citizens gathered today did not react out of political whim, but out of a deep sense of humiliation.
"They don't have a problem with anyone personally, the problem is the message. The message that the glorification of Srebrenica criminals can be tolerated, that one can remain silent in the face of the rehabilitation of the Chetniks, and at the same time talk about anti-fascism. That is not a contradiction, it is a betrayal of the ideals on which modern Montenegro is based," said Šehović.
Let it be clear, he added, anti-fascism is not an ornament for protocol but the foundation of our social contract.
"Whoever tries to relativize it should know that they will encounter resistance from those who do not celebrate July 13th out of obligation but live it every day. And they will not tire of defending it. On the contrary," concluded Šehović.
"There's a line from the movie 'Her father was both a Chetnik and a Partisan, a complete personality' - that's what the PES party is trying to be. Then the mirror is wrong and the picture is ugly," said SDP vice president and European Union representative Bojan Zeković.
"When he is not allowed to condemn by proclaiming a criminal decorated with Hitler's Steel Cross as a "great hero of an invincible spirit", when he is not allowed to say anything about the one who "sets the clock" and shows his middle finger during the anthem, but elects him to a new term, when he appoints Dajković as an official in the Capital City, when he is not allowed to call the awarding of the highest state award to a denier for a non-existent work a humiliation of a holiday, then resisting such a value system is characterized as 'bullying'," added Zeković.
He emphasized that you cannot celebrate and glorify fascists and quislings today and expect no one to point out to you that it is hypocritical to then also celebrate July 13th.
"You can't go to the monument to the Partisan fighter and to Gornje Zaostro. A person gets sick from consuming too many dishes or drinks, not from too many opposing ideologies. No matter what your stomach is like, the hangover will be severe," Zeković concluded.
